There are times when you just have to be fully engaged.
I am.
Enjoy!
Engaged
As one’s circumstance turned, one’s friendship turned too
Lapse in explanation, lapse in consideration, lapse in time
Lost conversations, lost laughter, the lost intimate, the lie
Taking umbrage, declaring ownership of what is not yours to take
Had you not assaulted, had I capitulated, no a life lesson required
Each day no return, next day the lesson plan changes
Lost and never to be found fears keep growing
Or perhaps the truth is, just stolen and buried underground
So doing next what need be done plain to see
This that I do pains me, the reality, hurts only you
Through the days, weeks and months of petulant denial
How could you do that which would surely be railed and raged against
Indecency and decency matter only as applied to a fairy princess
Not done to you, done by you, naturally not a single care was given
Getting on with, doing without, not yet, not without rallying to the affront
So there it is, didn’t have to be so, but it is what it is, alors cest la guerre

Thank you AnnMarie!
It is indeed a shame that it had to end with a declaration of war.
