Saturday Pontificating And Selective Musing

Saturday Pontificating and Selective Musing

Been a bit since I’ve just randomly and not mused for the benefit of myself and those who read me.

Those of you who read me, thanks! Those of you who don’t read me, why not?

Toronto is back to normal after the PanAm and Para PanAm games. Not that there was much that you’d notice to cause disruption in the everyday life of us core dwellers. H.O.V. lanes were driving the denizens who had to use the highways around the G.T.A. (Greater Toronto Area) dingy but other than that, not much to speak of in disruption. It was nice that the City did close off parking for the entire day on Front St when the Para PanAm’s opened and closed. That was fair and equitable and unlike what they did for the PanAm opening and closing, no one unfairly got their vehicle towed away!

The Athletes for the PARA GAMES were much more visible on the streets I travel and at the establishments I visit. I think mobility may have been part of the reason. Easier to just make use of the facilities and get around in the area you’re billeted in I suppose.

One of things that did make an impression me was the exuberance the PARA Athletes showed. Not to say that the “able bodied” weren’t pleased to be here just that the greater challenged were out and enjoying Toronto more. I saw the U.S.A.’s wheelchair basket ball team 4 or 5 times. A couple times just enjoying Front St. by the St. Lawrence Market and a couple times using the streets as paths for their cardio work.

I would like to comment on polo shirts I saw one country wearing, and I did go looking for a picture. The sleeves and shoulders looked kind of like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that, that dog Sam created after eating the purple flowers!

I was very pleased to see some of the Para Games Athletes, Coaches and Support Staff stayed beyond on the Games to enjoy Toronto The Good! The smiles and good will of all who visited this city were infectious and the smiles on those who call this city home, welcoming!

In closing on the Para Games I’m pleased to say there was no International Incident when some from the American Team and some from the Cuban team showed up at one of my coffee spots. Oh wait silly me, they were Athletes having a good time and not fear mongering politicians.

Going to be a beautiful afternoon here in Toronto and I think better when I move so I’m off to enjoy it and ponder on some goodies I got in the works!

Dragon’s Loyalty Award

Dragon’s Loyalty Award

My thanks to Laura Bruj for nominating, and bringing me this award.

The rules say announce with a post and like the person who nominated you. Well this is the post and I do like the person who nominated me.

My apologies for not completing this task sooner!

Post 7 interesting things about yourself it says.

1. I like dragons and my first ever favourite song had a dragon.

I’m also a fan of “Jane And The Dragon

Dragon is cool and I do so very much appreciate the art of tearing and shredding!

2. I cut my teeth on Science Fiction and Fantasy as a young person. The first S.F. was, “The Lensman” series by E.E. Doc Smith. I still aspire to be a 3rd Stage Lensman.

3. I very much enjoy the works of others as much as my own and promote them.

4. Sometimes I make up my own words and they work not just for me but for others too.

5. It has indeed been a long strange trip that isn’t over yet and the only one thing I am is Spiritual.

6. I love music and many of music’s genres. As was pointed out to me by a friend and I had never really thought about it, I am lyric driven as opposed to music driven. Y’all are gonna have to figure that out for your selves.

7. I do not hate.

My tastes are eclectic. I give to you a small number of those that I like

Pan American Games 2015, a few observations

Observations July 2015

(July 27, 2015)

Pan American Games 2015, a few observations.

I haven’t done the observational thing for a while. Feels like it is about time I did so again. Strange doing it on a Monday as I usually reserve my random rambling and musing for weekends.

The Games finished up their two week run here yesterday. From where I sit and live there was much ado about nothing as far as the logistics were concerned. Mind you the extent of my activity as far as the games were concerned was girl noticing. Firstly, someone has to do it and I’m good at it. I said noticing not ogling. Kindly remove your minds from the gutter among other places. Secondly I didn’t see more than a couple male athletes in total.

Let’s get something really creepy and flat out disgusting out of the way first. This is for you the keepers of Toronto The Good. One of my coffee spots is on Front St near St. Lawrence Market. On the day of both the opening and closing ceremonies that part of Front St. was a travel path for busses carrying games participants. On both days the parking cops went along the street mid afternoon posting signs for no parking. At the time of day the no parking was posted there were already vehicles parked. On both days I saw vehicles towed away.

This is the creepy and flat out disgusting part. Neither the day of or the day prior to the parking being taken away did I see postings notifying the public that the parking space would be unavailable. I did see a couple vehicles towed each day and wonder how justifiably irate the owners of those vehicles were. Oh yeah, there were parking cops on the route after the no parking signs and the meters were bagged to stop people from parking. This is just the stuff I saw so maybe there was a memo sent out to the world by osmosis. I didn’t get the memo either.

Our Canuck Girls Softball team. Yes our girls as I said to an artist buddy of mine. Not in the first person personal as I had to explain to him but hey lonely artists think differently. Those of you that are not creatives may freely substitute, “weirdly” for “differently”. In fact we’d appreciate it if you do substitute. Weird gets you left the hell alone, different not so much! We’d also appreciate it if the non-creatives sense of humour was somewhat expanded. Work on it.

I was running errands one afternoon and saw a couple of our girls in the same store I was. One of them had a bruise the size of a grapefruit on her leg closer to the hamstring than the calf. We hit the cash at the same time. I turned to out bruised warrior with a smile and said, “I just have to ask, Softball?”. The young lady said such was true. I told her enthusiastically, “how to take one for the team!”. She smiled and told me, “THANKS!”. Hockey, Lacrosse, Softball, Male, Female, we Canucks are all the same, we can take it and laugh it off.

Canada’s entire Team was in coffee spot a couple of times. It was girls being girls as well as exemplary ambassadors and young ladies.

The Softball Girls from the U.S. of A. Were also in the vicinity. A couple would visit alternative coffee spot in the mornings. Friendly and outgoing with the staff. Not quite so gregarious around the other people enjoying the coffee spot. The American girls would light up charmingly if you smiled first.

I did see a young woman sporting a USA Field hockey t-shirt this morning. She had a bit of a hitch in her giddy up. Here is hoping it isn’t too serious and that hitched giddy up came against our Canadian Girls in the Semi Final which America won. Field, ice, pavement, if it has hockey in the name of the game, y’all have been warned, repeatedly!

I did see a group of four from Mexico come in to the Front St. Coffee Spot the evening before the games officially began. Before I could tell them where to go, they were gone. They appeared to be looking for something to eat for dinner and I know a couple great spots in Kensington Market to get great Mexican. One where the Green Sauce is reported as better than SOCAL! In fact I was told of that establishment, the taco chips are simply a delivery mechanism for the Green Sauce!

All said and done, for those of us that live in the core of this great city, except for those two parking incidents I noted, getting around wasn’t bad at all!

Almost forgot, Women’s Softball Final, it was Canada 4 and the U.S.A. 2. That’ll teach you to mess with Canada in anything hockey related!

Left Brain Right Brain Balance

UPDATE: February 20, 2016
I just took another LB/RB test, which I refer to as, “checking my bells”. Not as extensive but the result returns the same, 50/50.

The link and result are at the end.

Left Brain Right Brain Balance

I took a test a while back and it came back exactly 50/50 Left/Right Balance. Not 49.9 to 50.1, 50/50.

Balance is important because without balance you bump in to things and fall over a lot. That is as much a physical as metaphysical statement. Bumping in to things and falling over, not fun!

There are links to Brain Balance at the end of the 5 image presentation.

GPS “N”, new technology

New GPS “N” Technology Announced

GPS “N” Canada LLC announced today that their new device has been thoroughly tested and is ready for release to the public. GPS “N”, with the ”N” representing Nachos . This device will lead hungry consumers in all 10 provinces and 3 territories to their favourite Nacho locations.

GPS Nacho 01

The device is programmable to allow for coast to coast trips without once ever having to stop at the place with the Arches. The device can route your trip so you don’t even ever have to pass an Arches location. Early reports show that parents are ecstatic with this option.

GPS Nacho 02

GPS “N” Canada C.E.O. Hal Payneyo stated that future models of the device will have breathalyser functionality. The device will auto enable at 2:00 am local time. The full details of operation are to be worked out but the aim is to prevent those under the influence from being able to find nachos and to just stay home or have the delectable delivered.

The GPS “N” C.E.O. did express regret the device would not be available to our friends and neighbours in the U.S. of A. Mr. Payneyo stated that importing such a device in to America had been vetoed by President McChucky with absolutely no explanation given. Mr Payneyo sincerely wished that a certain small fire incident would someday finally be gotten over by our friends below the 49th parallel and we could have a true free trade relationship.

In related news, The “GPS (get poutine sooner) Coalition” has set up pickets and has demanded the device be reconfigured to include Canada’s favourite heart attack in a box treat. Leaders of the Coalition have threatened to escalate the matter with the use of force if the demand is not met.

This reporter was unable to learn from the leaders of the “Get Poutine Sooner Coalition” if they were referring to a large Pacific fish or a hockey stick. This reporter was also unable to determine where the GPS Coalition planned to put those Cohos or KOHOs.

Teddy Bear Quotations

Teddy Bear Quotations

Start with a couple of my own.
The only ones I have expectations of are myself and my Teddy Bear.
G.R. Hambley

There are some that can’t look at Teddy Bears.
There are some that Teddy Bears won’t look at.
Both have good reason.

G.R. Hambley

My persona online and off for a long time has been and is Cool Teddy Bear and Bear. That most wonderful thing about Tigger also applies to the Cool Teddy Bear, I’m the only one. That sort of makes me my own Teddy Bear. Not a bad thing.

The Little Bear, CTB, has gone through a few evolutions. Hung on the cover of the book I wrote to begin with. Then turned in a different art that I hung (not showing you my tattoo) on my body. That is correct, a tattoo. What you see here is the finished. Yes I use him with different things he’s eaten or encountered as art and poignant pieces. But, this is it, as he sits on my desktop without the dialogue bubble and he is keeping schtum.

Teddy Bears, you can tell them anything and they don’t talk. Bears, not so much.

I do wonder what kind of mind it takes to think that waking up a Bear is a good thing to do. That whole let sleeping dogs lie thing applies exponentially don’tcha know!

First Dear Reader, the art, and then a collection of Teddy Bear quotations I’ve collected.

As he appears on the cover of the book I wrote

And now all those great teddy bear quotes!

“It is astonishing, really, how many thoroughly mature, well-adjusted grown-ups harbor a Teddy bear – which is perhaps why they are thoroughly mature and well-adjusted.”
– Joseph Lempa

“The world is divided into two nations: those with Teddy bears, those without. Each thinks the other is odd.”
– Jenny De Vries

“There’s just something about a Teddy bear that’s impossible to explain. When you hold one in your arms, you get a feeling of love, comfort and security. It’s almost supernatural.”
– James Ownby

“My Teddy was there when I had no friends to play with, no one to talk to, no one to share my little woes or my big joys. He looked constant and was constant. He never aged, no matter how tattered he became. His smell was the smell of my years as a boy, and he alone knew everything. Now, when I see him on the shelf, he is like my flesh and my soul – older, worn, but still full of happiness.”
– Robert Kunciov

“Long before I grew up, my Teddy bear taught me what love really meant: being there when you’re needed.”
– Jim Nelson

“A Teddy bear’s virtue is that he cannot love himself… only others.”
– Ted Menten

“A bear knows all your secrets – and keeps them.”
– Rosanne Brown

“A bedroom without a Teddy is like a face without a smile.”

– William Shakespeare

“Bears need people. People need bears.”
-Pam Brown

“In a world where everyone seems to be larger and louder than yourself, it is very comforting to have a small, quiet companion.”
-Peter Gray

“Age simply doesn’t enter into it! The older the friend, the more he is valued, particularly when he shows so visibly the characteristics that we all look for in friends. You have only to look at a genuine teddy’s face to see at once the loyalty, common sense, and above all, dependability behind it.”
-Peter Bull

“A bear teaches us that if the heart is true, it doesn’t matter much if an ear drops off.”
-Helen Exley

-Ted Menton

“There is probably nothing that a bear so dislikes as a good wash.”
-Marion C. Garretty

“There are few sadder sights than a wet bear hanging from a clothesline by its ears. Its says a lot for them that they never complain.”

-John Ziff

“There’s just something about a Teddy Bear that’s impossible to explain. When you hold one in your arms, you get a feeling of love, comfort and security. It’s almost supernatural.”
-James Ownby

“An experienced Teddy Bear brings with him a lifetime of knowledge and experience; the wisdom of silence and the stillness in moments of great turmoil. The long-suffering patience that is learned when belonging to a child who is coming of age, and coping with the bewilderment that this period of time can bring, is what he does best. The experienced bear has seen life through the heart and eyes of a child grown to adulthood and perhaps even accompanied that adult all the way to the end of the road.”
-Ted Menton

Masturbation … And In Public Too!

Masturbation … And In Public Too!

Months back I made this statement, “If you can’t use the words, all the words, how are you going to teach your children, how are you going to keep them safe”.

Yesterday as I was scrolling down on FB there was an article posted by IFLScience, I F…… Love Science.

The article was on Masturbation. There was a Wiki link to “National Masturbation Day”. Hell that was news to me. Didn’t know there was a special day for masturbation. Didn’t know you needed one!

I go to the Wiki link and the first thing I see is this….
This article needs attention from an expert on the subject

That is when my laughter started. The laughter didn’t start small either!

I see I have a notification from some banter with a friend on wordpress. The friend asked me if Barney, that big purple dinosaur should be brought in.

I know alternative words to the Barney song. My laughter is getting more intense.

Same friend and I a while back were lamenting about how every day seemed to be some special day and my poem, “Rolling Over” came out of that interaction.

Along with the almost maniacal laughter I now have some ironic laughter in the mix.

The in public part? Friend said in a private response to me sharing what was going on, and it was as much statement as question, “And you were laughing in a public place, weren’t you?“.

I’m almost howling and I’m thrumming,

My response to friend, “Yesm, I’m in a public place” and I wouldn’t of thought it possible but, the laughter got even stronger.

I wasn’t able to stop laughing for 20 minutes!

God, it was the perfect funny storm.

And a special thanks to my friend for telling me what to keep handy to show people if someone asks about, “the apparent psychotic break“.

Fate & Majik

Fate & Majik
A letter from a Lord to his Lady

Good Morn M’Lady

I do apologize M’Lady that this letter did come to thee not completely in the style thy Lord does normally take up. Not having that style upon this “Majik Box” I did choose the letter style of our child.

Being some what troubled upon receipt of your message I did seek out and speak with our Unicorns. They and me did confer for a very short time upon the matters of the “Fates”. We are in complete agreement they and me, that the “Fates” are to be praised and thanked for bringing thee and me together. “The Fates” are to be further blessed for bestowing upon us a love in life when it did appear that thee and me were fated to travel long roads through life incomplete.

Our Unicorns and myself also came to a very rapid conclusion that left to their own devices “The Fates” will only tease you with the numerous possibilities. Further discussion with our majik friends also revealed that should all be left to “The Fates” without invoking the “majik” of the true heart, then the end result may well be “Fatal”.

The “majik” of the true heart is belief that true love shall conquer all. Being that thee and me love each other truly, the “Fates” are indeed happy with their workings on our behalf. Further “Fate” does, and do rightly so, expect that thee and me will take upon ourselves what they lack. “The Fates” expect that thee and me shall hold our hearts true, our belief strong, and not blame or curse them should obstacles be thrown in our path!

M’Lady, “The fates” provided us with each other, and a “majik” love did root and rise from their gift. Tis my belief M’Lady that “The Fates” blessed us with “majik” and expect much from thee and me as our thanks for their gift. Our Unicorns agree that we are blessed to have each other and should always lend “The Fates” a hand with the “majik” we possess.

We shall speak more of this my love when we have each other’s ear!

I love you, all ways and always.

Your Lord

Quoth Me #7 – Bored?

Bored? I’m never bored. How could I possibly be bored when I have myself to talk to? Being a writer, I know how wonderful it is to talk to myself and then show other people the conversation!
